Storage Tanks  

Storage tanks used in solar thermal systems are similar to standard hot water tanks in your home, with a few specialized features. They are highly insulated to minimize heat loss, and have built-in heat exchanger loops integrated inside the tank.
These tanks are usually set up in front of existing hot water tanks as a pre-heat, to reduce (or eliminate) the heating work done by the existing tank.
Tanks with multiple loops also allow other options such as integrating with in-floor heating, or geothermal input.
